Gozney pizza turning peels are designed for use once the pizza is already in the oven. Their shape allows you to lift the pizza slightly, rotate it and reposition it whilst it is cooking – a particularly useful technique when working with intense heat and needing to orient different parts of the pizza towards the heat source.
The Venture, Utility and Balance models all perform this same function but with different approaches. They vary in reach, blade geometry and the way movement is controlled, so you can choose a more compact peel, a versatile option or a more technical design focused on balance and smooth rotation.
Which Gozney peel should you choose?

The Venture features a shorter design and offers precise, controlled handling, with a design developed by Gozney for the Tread and Arc Lite.
Utility offers a total length of 800 mm and a versatile approach for turning, moving and also removing the pizza once it’s cooked.
Balance increases the length to 900 mm and features a 203 mm perforated, teardrop-shaped paddle with a weight distribution designed to improve control.
Rotate and move the pizza with greater control

A rotating peel works differently to a tossing peel. Once the pizza is on the stone, its more manoeuvrable head allows you to slip it under part of the base, lift it and rotate it without having to remove it completely from the oven.
This movement allows you to reposition the pizza during cooking and align its different sections with the heat source. The Venture, Utility and Balance models all share this function, but each achieves this control in a different way through its length, blade geometry and overall ergonomics.
FSC-certified beech handle

All three variants feature a handle made from FSC-certified beech wood, creating a distinct point of contact compared to the metal head. This is a feature common to the Venture, Utility and Balance models and forms part of Gozney’s design philosophy for these pizza-turning tools.
The differences lie in the performance of each model. With the Utility, Gozney specifically highlights the comfort and weight of the handle, whilst with the Balance it emphasises its smooth feel and integrates this into an ergonomic design aimed at improving control of movement.
Ocean Bound recycled plastic and hanging system
The Venture, Utility and Balance models incorporate moulded parts made from Ocean Bound Plastic-certified recycled plastic. This is a feature shared by all three versions and complements the combination of stainless steel and beech wood used in their construction.
The paddle’s storage system varies depending on the model. The Venture and Utility feature a hanging loop made from recycled plastic, whilst the Balance uses a metal loop.
152 mm blade

Venture and Utility both feature a 152 mm wide welded stainless steel blade. Gozney has designed it with sufficient surface area to lift and rotate the pizza whilst cooking, whilst maintaining the manageable size typical of a pizza turner.
This dimension allows both models to share a similar functional base despite having different approaches. The Venture prioritises a shorter overall length, whilst the Utility extends the reach to 800 mm. The Balance stands apart from both with a perforated peel measuring 203 mm in diameter.
Bevelled edge

Both the Venture and the Utility feature a bevelled edge. Rather than ending in a completely straight profile, the edge gradually tapers in thickness towards the tip of the blade – a design well-suited to sliding the peel under the base of the pizza.
During the turn, this transition facilitates a gradual entry movement before gently lifting the pizza and rotating it. This is a significant difference compared to the Balance, which takes a different approach: a perforated blade, pressed and welded with a specific teardrop-shaped geometry.
Utility 800 mm

The Utility has a total length of 800 mm and is presented by Gozney as the range’s all-purpose tool. Its main function remains lifting, turning and moving the pizza during cooking, using the 152 mm stainless steel blade.
Its usefulness continues once baking is complete. The brand expressly states that the Utility can also be used to remove the pizza from the oven and carry it to the serving stand or surface. This makes it the most general-purpose option of the three.
Venture (short version)

Venture retains the 152 mm welded stainless steel blade and bevelled edge, but features a significantly shorter design than the Utility and Balance models. The main difference lies in its compact design, intended to offer more precise and controlled handling.
The brand has designed it to work with Gozney Tread and Arc Lite, and to turn and move pizzas measuring approximately 305 mm (12 inches). Its shorter length is particularly well-suited to compact or portable oven set-ups.
Balance: Perforations to release excess flour

Balance completely changes the head design compared to Venture and Utility. It uses a perforated stainless steel blade, pressed and welded, with a diameter of 203 mm, offering a larger working surface and a design specifically developed for this model.
The perforations allow excess flour to fall through the paddle whilst the pizza is being handled. Gozney attributes this feature to preventing that excess flour from remaining exposed to the heat and producing unwanted burnt flavours in the crust.
Balance Teardrop Shape

As well as being perforated, the Balance blade is teardrop-shaped. Gozney has designed this geometry to facilitate rotational movement, so that the head follows the characteristic manoeuvre of a pizza peel when turning pizzas.
The entire blade is pressed and welded to provide a fluid movement when working underneath the pizza. This combination of geometry and construction clearly distinguishes Balance from the 152 mm blades used in the Venture and Utility models.
Balance: Centre of gravity closer to the hand

With a total length of 900 mm, Balance is the variant with the longest reach. To ensure that this length remains responsive and controllable, the handle design shifts the centre of gravity of the entire tool closer to the hand.
The aim is to improve control when moving and rotating the pizza inside the oven. Combined with the 28 mm diameter FSC-certified beech handle and the 203 mm perforated head, this weight distribution makes ergonomics one of Balance’s most distinctive features.
