The Gozney infrared thermometer is designed for those who want to accurately monitor the temperature of a surface before and during cooking. It is a particularly useful tool when using pizza ovens and barbecues, as well as for other domestic uses where knowing the surface temperature provides an objective reference point.

Its portable design makes it easy to carry out quick checks wherever you need them, helping to replace guesswork with a direct reading. This allows you to better control how the surface heats up and make more informed cooking decisions.

Built-in laser for targeting the exact spot

The built-in laser allows you to direct the measurement towards the specific area of the surface you wish to check. In a pizza oven, for example, it is particularly handy for aiming directly at different areas of the stone and determining its temperature more precisely.

This visual reference helps you carry out more controlled and repeatable checks, avoiding reliance solely on your perception of heat or the time elapsed since the oven was switched on.

From −50 to 800 °C for comprehensive temperature monitoring

Its measurement range extends from −50 to 800 °C, enabling you to check surfaces across a very wide temperature range. This is particularly important when working with pizza ovens, where the cooking surface can reach very high temperatures.

The wide range allows the thermometer to be used during different stages of heating, monitoring how the surface temperature changes before cooking begins and carrying out further checks as required.

Backlit LED display for clear readings

The backlit LED display ensures the temperature reading is clearly visible on the front of the device. This makes it easy to check the result whilst you’re working around the oven, barbecue or the surface you’re testing.

Having the information directly on the display simplifies subsequent checks: you can take a measurement, check the reading and decide whether the surface has reached the desired temperature before continuing with the cooking process.

Spot or continuous reading, depending on your needs

The thermometer allows you to work with either a single reading or a continuous reading. The former is useful when you simply want to know the temperature at a specific point at a given moment, whilst the continuous mode allows you to take readings over a longer period.

This dual option offers flexibility when monitoring a surface: you can carry out quick checks or track its temperature progression when you need to observe how the temperature changes before starting to cook.

Switching between Celsius and Fahrenheit

The Gozney infrared thermometer allows you to switch the unit of measurement between degrees Celsius and Fahrenheit. This is handy when using recipes, instructions or temperature references from sources that use different measurement systems.

Instead of making manual conversions, you can view the temperature directly in the unit you need, making it easier to keep track of it whilst preparing your food.

Soft-touch finish for comfortable handling

The soft-touch finish provides a pleasant surface to hold whilst using the thermometer. This is a particularly useful feature in a tool designed for quick, repeated checks around the cooking area.

Its design allows the thermometer to be used as a standard monitoring tool, whether for checking the surface of a pizza oven or for other surface temperature measurements within its operating range.

First use

  1. Visually check that the housing and lens area are clean and show no visible signs of damage before using the thermometer.
  2. Check the power supply using the 9 V battery supplied with the product.
  3. Select the temperature unit you require: °C or °F.
  4. Before relying on an important measurement, carry out an initial check on a surface whose temperature can be considered stable or known.

During measurement

  1. Point the thermometer at the specific surface whose temperature you want to check and use the integrated laser as a guide for aiming the measurement.
  2. Never point the laser towards anyone's eyes or at other people.
  3. Use a single reading for a specific check or the continuous reading option when you want to monitor changes in the surface temperature.
  4. When using a pizza oven, take measurements from the cooking surface to better understand its thermal condition before placing food inside.
  5. Bear in mind that highly polished or reflective surfaces can affect the accuracy of infrared measurements. Interpret these readings with caution.

After use

  • Remove the thermometer from the heat area once you have finished taking measurements.
  • The device features automatic shut-off after 15 seconds.
  • Before storing it, check that the lens area is free from dirt, grease or adhered particles.

Cleaning

  • With the thermometer switched off, clean the housing using a clean, soft, lint-free cloth.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents on the device.
  • Keep the infrared sensor lens particularly clean, as dirt can affect measurement accuracy.
  • If the lens requires cleaning, use a soft cloth or suitable cotton bud, taking care not to apply pressure or scratch it.
  • Allow the lens to dry completely before using the thermometer again.

Maintenance

  • Periodically check the condition of the housing, lens and power supply before using the thermometer.
  • Replace the 9 V battery when it no longer provides adequate power.
  • Do not use the thermometer if it shows visible signs of damage or abnormal operation until its condition has been checked.

Storage

Gozney Infrared Thermometer stored and protected after use

Store the thermometer in a dry, protected place, away from extreme temperatures, moisture and dirt. If you use a protective case, make sure the device is clean and dry before storing it.

If you are not going to use it for an extended period, it is advisable to remove the battery to reduce the risk of damage associated with long-term storage.
