The Kamado Joe temperature probe allows you to monitor the internal temperature of food directly via the digital display of a compatible barbecue. It is a practical solution for cooking based on the actual temperature inside the food, rather than relying solely on cooking time or its external appearance.

It can be used as an additional probe or as a replacement for an existing one, whilst maintaining integration with the Kamado Joe system. It is particularly useful for roasts and slow cooking, where monitoring how the inside of the food is cooking helps you decide more accurately when it is ready.

Extend control to up to three probes on your Konnected Joe

Control digital de sondas de temperatura en Kamado Konnected Joe

The Konnected Joe allows you to use up to three meat probes, making it possible to monitor different temperatures during a single cooking session. Adding another probe is particularly handy when you’re preparing several cuts at once or when each piece of food needs to reach a different internal temperature.

This way, you can monitor each piece independently via the kamado’s digital system and have more information to help you decide when to remove each item, rather than treating the entire cooking process as if it had a single target temperature.

Monitor the internal temperature of the food

The probe is inserted into the food so that the system can display its internal temperature whilst it is cooking. This allows you to work with a direct indication of what is happening at the centre of the piece, rather than relying solely on approximate cooking times.

This control is particularly useful when the outside may appear cooked through before the inside has reached the desired temperature. It also makes it easier to replicate results across different dishes by using a specific temperature as a reference.

Compatible with Konnected Joe and Pellet Joe

Kamado Konnected Joe Classic y Big Joe

Kamado Joe specifies this probe for the Konnected Joe KJ15041123 and the Pellet Joe KJ15260020. It is important to check the model, as not all probes necessarily use the same connection system or are recognised by the unit’s controller.

If you’re looking for an additional unit or need to replace the one you’ve been using, this product is documented as compatible with these Kamado Joe systems, so you don’t have to choose based solely on the connector’s appearance.

Direct connection to the digital system

The probe features an angled connector for direct connection to the compatible system. Once connected and correctly positioned in the food, the reading becomes part of the cooking monitoring carried out by the barbecue itself.

This allows you to check the temperature via the Kamado Joe system without needing a separate thermometer. The probe measures the temperature inside the food whilst the controller displays the information throughout the cooking process.

Genuine Kamado Joe probe

This is an original Kamado Joe probe designed to integrate with the compatible systems specified by the manufacturer. It can be used both to increase the number of available probes and to replace an existing unit.

By using the original accessory, you ensure documented compatibility with the barbecue’s control system. For those who already own a compatible Konnected Joe or Pellet Joe, this is a straightforward way to add another measurement point to the cooking control.

Before first use

  1. Check compatibility. Use the probe only with a compatible Kamado Joe system and connect the plug to the port intended for meat probes.
  2. Check the condition of the probe and cable. Before each use, make sure the probe shaft, cable and connector show no cuts, sharp bends, deformation or visible damage.
  3. Insert the tip into the correct part of the food. Position it in a representative part of the food, avoiding direct contact with bones, the cooking grate or other surfaces that could affect the reading.

During cooking

  1. Monitor the temperature through the digital system. Once connected, the probe allows you to monitor the internal temperature of the food using the compatible controller. On connected models, it can also be integrated with the monitoring functions in the Kamado Joe app.
  2. Keep the cable away from direct heat. Route the cable so that it does not sit directly over hot coals, flames, combustion zones or excessively hot surfaces.
  3. Do not force the cable when closing the lid. Avoid pinching, crushing or sharply bending it, as this could damage the internal conductor over time.
  4. Do not exceed the system's reading limit. If the temperature measured by the probe exceeds 149 °C, the controller may display a maximum probe temperature warning.

Important: if the maximum probe temperature warning appears, use protective gloves to remove the probe, disconnect it from the controller and allow it to cool before handling it again.

After cooking

  1. Allow the probe to cool down. Do not handle the metal section immediately after high-temperature cooking.
  2. Disconnect it by holding the connector. Remove the plug by gripping the connector itself and avoid pulling directly on the cable.
  3. Remove food residue as soon as possible. Once cool, clean the metal section to prevent grease and residue from drying onto the surface.

Cleaning

  • Clean the metal section of the probe with a soft cloth or sponge and soapy water.
  • Avoid abrasive products, metal scourers or utensils that could damage the surface.
  • Do not immerse the connector or the entire assembly in water and prevent moisture from entering the electrical connection.
  • Wipe the outside of the cable with a slightly damp cloth when necessary and dry it afterwards.
  • Allow the probe to dry completely before reconnecting or storing it.

Maintenance

  • Periodically check that the connector is clean and free from residue before inserting it into the controller.
  • Inspect the cable, paying particular attention to the areas near the probe and connector, where bending stress is usually greatest.
  • If the controller persistently displays a probe error, first check the connection. If the problem continues, Kamado Joe recommends contacting its support service.
  • Do not use the probe if you notice significant damage to the cable, insulation, probe shaft or connector.

Storage

  • Store the probe clean, dry and completely cool.
  • Coil the cable loosely, without knots or sharp bends.
  • Keep the connector protected from moisture, dirt and impacts.
  • Avoid leaving the probe permanently exposed outdoors when it is not in use.
