The Masterbuilt Gravity Series rotisserie kit is designed for those who want to get more out of their compatible barbecue and start cooking whole cuts of meat with a continuous, stable and convenient rotation. It is an accessory designed to expand the capabilities of Gravity Series barbecues without complicating day-to-day use.

The approach is very practical: assemble and install, secure the food firmly, and let the rotating motion do the work whilst the heat from the charcoal and the smoke add flavour and ensure a more even finish. It’s a great option for poultry, roasts and other dishes that benefit greatly from even heat distribution.

If you already own a compatible Masterbuilt Gravity Series barbecue and are looking for an accessory with a technical yet user-friendly design, this kit opens the door to new recipes, featuring a mounting system specifically designed for the range and components engineered to securely hold and rotate the food.

Electric rotation

At the heart of this Masterbuilt Gravity Series rotisserie kit is its electric motor, which keeps the spit moving so that the food rotates continuously whilst cooking. This constant rotation helps to expose the entire surface to the heat more evenly and promotes gradual browning.

In practice, this results in more even cooking than with a stationary piece of meat, particularly with whole birds and roasts that need time to cook through without drying out on the outside. Furthermore, the continuous rotation allows the juices to baste the surface whilst it cooks.

For those seeking a more consistent result and wishing to make the most of a digital charcoal barbecue with a smoker, this system offers a different way of cooking – one that is more stable and particularly beneficial for recipes requiring a long cooking time.

Two interchangeable rotisserie rods

Kit asador Masterbuilt con motor, varillas y accesorios

This accessory includes two interchangeable rotisserie spits, a very important feature within the Gravity Series range as it allows the set to be adapted to the configuration specified by Masterbuilt for various compatible models. This is no minor addition: it makes the kit more versatile within the product family for which it is intended.

Thanks to this configuration, the user is not limited to a single skewer size when trying to fit the accessory. The system is designed to offer a more logical integration with the compatible barbecue, ensuring a tidier setup and an installation in line with the manufacturer’s own design.

It is also a practical advantage when it comes to assembling, dismantling and preparing for different cooking sessions, as the kit is designed from the outset to accommodate the necessary adjustments within the compatible series.

Adjustable clamps

The adjustable clamps are responsible for securing the food onto the spit so that it rotates steadily. Their function is very clear: to hold the piece firmly in place, prevent unnecessary movement and help ensure the weight is better distributed along the axis of rotation.

This is particularly important when cooking chickens, whole cuts or irregularly shaped pieces, as a firm grip improves the rotation and ensures more consistent cooking. The better centred the piece is, the smoother and more uniform the movement of the whole assembly will be.

From a practical point of view, it is one of those elements that makes the difference between a kit that is merely compatible and a truly functional accessory that you can use with confidence for more ambitious recipes.

Dedicated barbecue mounting

Kit asador instalado en una barbacoa Masterbuilt Gravity Series

One of the strengths of this kit is that its installation is specifically designed for compatible Masterbuilt Gravity Series barbecues. The motor and adapter are mounted on one side, whilst the rotisserie arm bracket is positioned on the opposite side, creating a stable rotation path within the barbecue itself.

This gives the impression of a well-integrated whole and avoids the need for generic accessories or makeshift solutions. For the user, this means fitting the kit in a logical manner, integrated into the barbecue’s structure and designed to ensure smooth operation from the very first use.

Furthermore, as this is a design intended for the range, the kit is seen as a natural extension of the barbecue itself, rather than an external accessory that simply ‘fits on’.

Up to 9.1 kg

If you’re interested in cooking larger cuts, this Masterbuilt Gravity Series rotisserie kit can accommodate up to 9.1 kg of food. This is a very attractive capacity for those who want to move beyond small-scale cooking and are looking for an accessory capable of handling chickens, roasts or whole cuts of meat that make a bigger impression.

Beyond the figure itself, what matters is what it enables in practice: opening the door to more ambitious cooking projects without losing control of the rotation. The system’s continuous movement helps you make the most of this capacity, provided the piece is well balanced and correctly secured by the claws.

For users wishing to expand the range of recipes they can prepare on their Gravity Series, this feature makes the kit a particularly attractive accessory, whether for family gatherings or more extensive cooking sessions.

Compatible with the Masterbuilt Gravity Series range

Compatibility is one of the most important factors in an accessory of this kind, and in this case Masterbuilt provides a specific official guide to confirm the kit’s compatibility. According to this guide, the accessory is designed for models in the Gravity Series 560, 600, 800, 900, XT, 1050 and 1150 ranges.

This makes it a very attractive option for users of different generations within the range, as it allows you to maintain the same rotisserie cooking concept within the Gravity Series ecosystem. It’s not just about ‘being able to fit it on’, but about making the most of an accessory designed specifically for this barbecue system.

Before purchasing, it’s worth checking the official fitting guide to confirm the exact model of your compatible barbecue. This will ensure you choose the correct accessory and enjoy installation and use in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications.

First use and installation

Rotisserie kit installed on a Masterbuilt Gravity Series
  1. Remove the barbecue's rotisserie access plug.
  2. Insert the motor and its adaptor into the mounting point on the left-hand side.
  3. Screw on the collar flange and fit the spit rod support on the right-hand side.
  4. Secure the support using the position specified for your Gravity Series model. Masterbuilt recommends consulting the manual to select the correct mounting point.
  5. Tighten the collar flange until the motor is securely held in place.
  6. Fit the forks onto the spit rod and tighten their adjustment screws once the food has been positioned.

Before you start cooking

  1. Centre the food. Distribute the weight evenly around the spit rod to help maintain smooth rotation.
  2. Secure the forks. The meat must be firmly held in place before fitting the assembly into the barbecue.
  3. Check the balance. If the food repeatedly drops towards the same side when rotated, reposition it before cooking.
  4. For whole poultry, Masterbuilt recommends tying the legs and wings close to the body with kitchen string to maintain a compact shape during rotation.
  5. For pork, ham, beef or lamb, insert the spit rod lengthwise through the longest part of the joint, centre it and secure it with the forks.

During cooking

  • Insert the spit rod into the motor at the corresponding end and connect the power supply before starting rotation.
  • Keep the lid closed whenever possible to reduce heat loss and uneven cooking.
  • Monitor the food to make sure it continues rotating steadily. As the meat cooks and its consistency changes, the forks may need to be readjusted.
  • For large or fatty cuts, Masterbuilt recommends placing a tray underneath to collect juices and help reduce possible flare-ups.
  • Do not use the rotisserie above 232 °C.
Important: properly balancing the food helps the motor maintain smooth, consistent rotation. Do not rely on the forks alone: check the weight distribution before starting.

After cooking

  1. Stop the rotation before dismantling the assembly.
  2. Remove the spit rod and food once the assembly can be handled safely.
  3. Check the forks and their adjustment screws before storing the components.
  4. Remove the rotisserie kit when it is not in use, as recommended by Masterbuilt.

Cleaning

Once the components are cold, remove food residue from the spit rod, forks and any parts that have been in contact with food before storing them again.

The specific official documentation found for this kit does not state whether its components are dishwasher safe or prescribe particular detergents or chemicals. For more thorough cleaning, follow the official manual and avoid using methods not specified by the manufacturer.

Maintenance

  • Before each use, check that the forks can be secured correctly and that their adjustment screws hold the food firmly in place.
  • Check that the spit rod is properly supported and aligned between the motor and its support.
  • If the food becomes unbalanced during cooking, stop the process when it is safe to do so and re-centre it before continuing.
  • No official instruction has been found recommending lubrication of the motor, spit rod or supports; do not apply maintenance treatments that are not specified by Masterbuilt.

Storage

Masterbuilt recommends removing the rotisserie when it is not in use. Store the spit rod, forks and removable components together once they are clean and in suitable condition for their next use, and keep the kit documentation so you can refer to the correct mounting position for each Gravity Series model.

Rotisserie meat kebab

Meat kebab prepared using a Masterbuilt Gravity Series rotisserie

A different way to put the Masterbuilt Gravity Series Rotisserie Kit to use for the first time: prepare a spiced kebab-style stack of meat and let the continuous rotation gradually brown the surface over the heat of the charcoal.

Serve it freshly sliced in bread with tomato, cucumber and a fresh yoghurt sauce. The contrast between the browned meat, vegetables and sauce makes this recipe a great demonstration of what the rotisserie can do.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg beef, lamb or a combination of both, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Salt to taste
  • Pitta bread or flatbread
  • Sliced tomato
  • Sliced cucumber

For the sauce

  • 200 g natural yoghurt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 garlic clove, finely grated
  • Fresh herbs to taste
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

  1. Marinate the meat. Mix the oil, garlic, paprika, cumin, coriander, oregano, salt and pepper. Add the meat and coat it thoroughly in the seasoning before cooking.
  2. Assemble the kebab. Layer the slices of meat one after another onto the spit rod until you have formed a compact stack. Adjust the forks at both ends to hold it firmly in place.
  3. Check the balance. Before switching on the motor, rotate the spit rod manually and check that the weight is evenly distributed. If one side continually drops, reposition the meat until you achieve smooth, even rotation.
  4. Prepare the Gravity Series. Stabilise the barbecue at approximately 175–190 °C. Masterbuilt states that the rotisserie kit should not be used above 232 °C.
  5. Cook with continuous rotation. Install the spit rod, connect the motor and cook with the lid closed. Allow the surface to develop a deep brown crust while the meat rotates slowly.
  6. Monitor the cooking. Check the internal temperature with a thermometer in the thickest part and make sure the meat reaches a safe temperature before serving.
  7. Slice and brown again. Once the outer layer is well browned, carve off thin slices. If you want to continue cooking the remaining meat, return it to the rotisserie until a new browned surface develops.
  8. Assemble the kebab. Warm the bread, add the freshly sliced meat, tomato and cucumber, then finish with the yoghurt sauce.

Tip: Masterbuilt recommends keeping the meat centred and firmly secured with the forks to achieve even rotation. For fatty cuts, it also recommends placing a tray underneath to collect the juices and help reduce possible flare-ups.
