The BABEL is an outdoor gas heater designed to create immediate thermal comfort with a highly decorative visible flame. Its 10 kW output, perimeter glazing and anti-tilt system with automatic shut-off make it a solid choice for residential and hospitality terraces looking for stable heat, aesthetics and uncomplicated safety.

🔩 Materials and construction

The robust metal body protects the burner and houses the canister, while tempered glass encapsulates the flame to improve wind resistance and reduce accidental contact with the fire. The volcanic stone accompanies the flame, stabilises combustion and enhances the visual effect, providing thermal inertia and a controlled “campfire” aesthetic.

⚙️ Outstanding features

Integrates manual piezo ignition for reliable start-up and an accessible control panel for adjustment. Includes regulator with canister connection hose and protective sleeve, so it arrives ready to use and store. Anti-tip system stops delivery if the unit is tipped, adding a critical layer of safety.

🔥 Performance and efficiency

With 10 kW of thermal output, the BABEL delivers fast and even heat in outdoor spaces. It is LPG ready and specifies indicative consumptions of 1,163 g/h (butane G30) and 1,143 g/h (propane G31), useful figures for planning autonomy with each cylinder and service shifts.

🖤 Design and aesthetics

The black finish and glazing on four sides enhance the visibility of the flame from any angle, making the heater the focal point of the terrace. Its rectilinear line fits in with modern or rustic settings, and the volcanic stone adds organic texture that evokes natural embers.

🔗 Compatibilities and included accessories

The heater runs on butane gas (G30 28-30 mbar) and propane (G31 37 mbar), which facilitates logistics depending on local availability. Volcanic stones, regulator with hose and cover to protect it when not in use are included in the package, reducing additional purchases.

🍖 Benefits for outdoor cooking and barbecues

Although the BABEL is not a cooking device, its main value in an outdoor kitchen is to extend the barbecue and outdoor dining season, keeping diners and cook comfortable on cold nights or in between seasons. The visible flame adds atmosphere to tastings, barbecues and terrace service without masking the aromas of the food.

🛡️ Safety and ease of use

Automatic tilt/fall shut-off mitigates risks in busy or windy environments, and the glazing creates a physical barrier to the flame. Piezo ignition simplifies the daily routine and the front control makes adjustment intuitive even when wearing gloves.

🏨 Applications beyond

In addition to domestic use, it is suitable for use in hospitality on bar and restaurant terraces or events in gardens and porches, where the visual impact of the flame and the 10 kW output help to create comfortable and attractive areas for the public.

Use and Maintenance

Below is a plan for use and maintenance designed to maximise the safety, efficiency and useful life of your BABEL heater. Follow these basic steps and adjust them if you have a specific manufacturer's manual.

Initial installation

  • Place the heater outdoors on a level, stable surface with plenty of space around it.
  • Use a compatible gas cylinder (G30 butane 28–30 mbar or G31 propane 37 mbar). Connect the regulator and hose provided, checking for leaks with soapy water.

Ignition and adjustment

  • Open the cylinder regulator.
  • Press and hold the piezo as indicated on the plate; check that the flame ignites on the volcanic stone and stabilises the flow. Adjust the flow to the desired comfort level.

Shutdown and storage

  • Close the gas supply at the regulator.
  • Allow to cool before covering with the cover provided to protect from dust and rain.

Regular cleaning

  • Tempered glass: clean when cold with a soft cloth and neutral glass cleaner to maintain visibility of the flame.
  • Volcanic stone: shake off fine residue occasionally; replace if it deteriorates.

Preventive maintenance

  • Check the hose and regulator for wear or expiry dates.
  • Check that the anti-tip system is working properly (contact technical support if you suspect a fault).
  • Do not use indoors or on decks without ventilation.

Mobility and location

  • Carefully relocate the heater according to wind and foot traffic, avoiding uneven surfaces and narrow passageways.

Recipe for Spiced Citrus Punch ‘BABEL Nights’

Serves: 6–8 cups · Time: 15 min Ideal with: mild barbecues, grilled vegetables, cheeses.

Ingredients

  • 1 litre of natural apple juice (or non-alcoholic apple cider)
  • 500 ml of water
  • Zest of 1 orange and 1 lemon (without the white pith)
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 6–8 cloves
  • 4 thin slices of fresh ginger
  • 2–3 tablespoons honey or brown sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 split vanilla pod (optional)
  • To serve: orange/lemon slices, cinnamon sticks, star anise

Alcoholic version (optional, choose one)

  • 300 ml aged rum or bourbon or young red wine

Preparation

  1. Place the apple juice, water, citrus peel, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, vanilla and sweetener in a saucepan.
  2. Heat over medium heat until it smokes gently; do not boil to preserve the aromas. Leave to infuse for 10 minutes.
  3. Strain or remove the spices to taste. If you want it with alcohol, now add the rum/bourbon/wine, stir and heat for 2–3 minutes without boiling.
  4. Serve piping hot in sturdy cups, garnished with citrus slices, a cinnamon stick and, if you like, a star anise.

Pro tips

  • More citrus: squeeze half an orange at the end.
  • More spice: add crushed cardamom or a pinch of nutmeg.
  • Fancy foam: top each cup with a dollop of semi-whipped cream or a touch of foamed milk.
  • Batch for groups: double the quantities and keep it very gentle on the heat; stir every 5–10 minutes.
