The Gozney Venture pizza peel is designed to carry the prepared pizza from the workstation to the oven with a light, direct and precise handling. Its combination of aluminium, a perforated surface and a short handle is designed to make one of the most delicate stages of preparation easier: sliding the pizza onto the stone without losing its shape or its toppings.

Gozney has developed it for 12-inch pizzas, approximately 30.5 cm. Its compact design is particularly practical with the Tread and Arc Lite models, although it is not limited to these ovens: it can also be used with the Gozney Dome, and Gozney classifies it as one of the accessories compatible with the Arc XL.

Hexagonal perforation

The surface of the Venture is fully perforated in a hexagonal pattern. When moving the pizza onto the peel before launching it into the oven, these holes allow some of the loose flour used during preparation to fall away rather than being carried onto the dough into the oven.

This helps to achieve a cleaner, more controlled launch, especially when working with fresh dough and you need enough flour to prevent it from sticking to the work surface without carrying excess flour onto the base of the pizza.

Rounded shape

Gozney combines a rounded peel with a design developed for working with 12-inch pizzas, equivalent to approximately 30.5 cm. The geometry of the surface follows the circular shape of the pizza during preparation and before it is placed in the oven.

The 12-inch size also helps keep the Venture compact and easy to handle. You have a surface designed to prepare and slide a whole pizza onto the oven without the peel becoming an unnecessarily bulky tool.

Lightweight and durable aluminium peel

The blade is made of aluminium, and Gozney describes it as strong and lightweight. This is a particularly useful combination in a pizza peel, as the tool is constantly moving between the preparation area and the oven door whilst the pizza is already loaded with toppings.

Its lightweight construction ensures agile and natural handling during these transitions. This allows you to concentrate on positioning the pizza correctly and executing the toss with confidence, without having to manoeuvre a heavy or cumbersome peel.

Short handle

The Venture features a short handle to keep control close to the peel itself. Gozney particularly highlights this design for the Tread and Arc Lite models, where the compact size facilitates movements between the preparation area and the oven door.

That doesn’t mean the Venture is exclusive to those two models. Its 12-inch size also allows it to be used with larger-capacity Gozney ovens, including the Dome, and Gozney lists it amongst the accessories compatible with the Arc XL.

In any of these settings, the short handle maintains a direct feel during launching and also makes the shovel more comfortable to carry and store than a long-handled alternative.

Contoured aluminium handle

The handle is also made from aluminium, and Gozney specifies a contoured design. It is the point from which you transmit every small movement to the peel, from positioning the pizza correctly to guiding the final movement before placing it in the oven.

Its construction is integral to the Venture’s lightweight design, ensuring the tool remains focused on agile handling during preparation and tossing without adding bulky elements to the overall design.

Replaceable handle

Gozney confirms that the Venture’s handle is replaceable. This means it is not an integral part of the peel, which offers a significant advantage in terms of the utensil’s lifespan should that part need replacing in the future.

It is a practical feature in an accessory intended for frequent use. The availability or inclusion of a replacement handle is not implied: the confirmed feature is that the fitted handle can be replaced.

Recycled plastic hanging loop

At the end of the handle, the Venture features a sturdy ring for hanging it up once preparation is complete. Gozney specifies that this part is made from Ocean Bound Plastic-certified recycled plastic, incorporating this material into a functional element of the utensil.

The loop allows the peel to be hung in a suitable storage spot rather than being left to take up space on the worktop. A simple solution for keeping pizza utensils organised and ready for the next session.

Use and maintenance of the Gozney Venture

First use

  1. Check that the Gozney Venture Pizza Peel is clean, completely dry and free from residue before placing dough on it.
  2. Check that there is no residue on the perforated surface that could prevent the pizza from sliding smoothly.
  3. The Gozney documentation reviewed does not indicate that this peel requires seasoning, treatment or any special conditioning before use.

During use

Launching a pizza with the Gozney Venture peel
  1. Use the peel while it is cool. Gozney states that a placement peel should not be used to launch fresh pizza while it is hot to the touch.
  2. Dust lightly. A small amount of flour or semolina can help prevent the dough from sticking. Avoid using too much, as excess flour can burn on the stone.
  3. Work quickly. Do not leave an assembled pizza on the peel for longer than necessary, as moisture from the dough and toppings can cause it to stick.
  4. Check that it slides. Before approaching the oven, gently move the peel. The pizza should move freely.
  5. Launch with a confident movement. Bring the peel close to the stone, make a short, controlled forward movement and gently withdraw the peel while leaving the pizza on the cooking surface.

After each pizza

  1. Remove any flour, dough or ingredient residue from the peel that could interfere with the next launch.
  2. Before preparing another pizza, check again that the surface is clean and dry.
  3. If the peel has become hot during use, allow it to become cool to the touch again before placing another fresh pizza on it.

Cleaning

  • Do not put it in the dishwasher. Gozney specifies that its placement peels are not dishwasher safe.
  • Remove residue from the surface and perforations after use.
  • Make sure the peel is completely dry before using or storing it again.
  • The official documentation reviewed does not specify chemicals, particular detergents or abrasive cleaning methods for the Venture, so these should not be assumed to be officially recommended methods.

Maintenance

  • Keep the perforated surface free from residue to maintain smooth dough release.
  • Do not leave the peel inside the oven for extended periods. This is an explicit instruction from Gozney for its placement peels.
  • The Venture handle is replaceable. If it needs to be replaced, use only a procedure and replacement part confirmed to be compatible with this model.

Storage

  • Store the peel clean and dry after use.
  • Avoid storing it with flour, dough or ingredient residue still attached.
  • Use the integrated loop at the end of the handle to keep it hanging and organised when a suitable storage point is available.

Pepperoni Pizza with the Gozney Venture

Preparing a pepperoni pizza with the Gozney Venture peel

A pepperoni pizza is a perfect way to put the Venture’s features into practice: preparing the pizza on a compact surface, allowing some excess flour to fall away through the perforations, and making a quick, confident launch onto the stone.

This version is based on an official Gozney recipe and adapted to the Venture’s working size, so the pizza should not exceed 30.5 cm in diameter.

Ingredients

  • 1 ball of pizza dough
  • Tomato sauce
  • Parmigiano-Reggiano
  • Low-moisture mozzarella
  • Pepperoni

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven. The Gozney recipe used as a reference works at around 400 °C.
  2. Open the dough. Form a round base no larger than approximately 30.5 cm, which is the intended pizza size for the Gozney Venture.
  3. Add the toppings. Spread the tomato sauce and distribute the Parmigiano-Reggiano, mozzarella and pepperoni over the base.
  4. Transfer the pizza to the Venture. Use a light dusting of flour to prevent the dough from sticking. Once it is on the peel, give it a small test movement to make sure the pizza slides freely.
  5. Take advantage of the perforated surface. The hexagonal holes allow some loose flour to fall away before the pizza is loaded into the oven, reducing the amount of excess flour reaching the stone.
  6. Launch the pizza. Bring the peel close to the cooking area and make a firm, smooth motion to slide the dough onto the stone.
  7. Bake and rotate. For this version, Gozney indicates approximately 90 seconds at 400 °C, rotating regularly to achieve even cooking.

Tip: prepare the toppings before placing the dough on the peel. The less time the uncooked pizza sits loaded on the Venture, the easier it will be to maintain a clean release before launching.
