If you enjoy cooking on a griddle, having the right utensils to hand makes it easier to keep up with each dish. The Char-Griller Griddle Kit is designed for those who want to cook food comfortably and leave the surface ready for use when finished.

It’s a practical choice for both a quick meal and for preparing several ingredients at once: it allows you to move from cooking to clearing up with tools designed for each task.

Five pieces

The set includes two spatulas, two squeeze bottles and a scraper. Each piece has its own purpose: handling food, adding liquid during cooking and removing residue when you’re finished.

Having all five tools together is particularly useful when you’re preparing several ingredients on the griddle and need to switch from one task to another without interrupting the cooking process.

Two spatulas

The flat blades of the spatulas allow you to slide them under food to lift, move and turn it. On a griddle, this is handy for both portions of meat and vegetables that need moving from one area to another.

By having two, you can work with one in each hand: one helps to pick up or hold the ingredients whilst the other moves them. It’s a convenient way to handle several portions during the same cooking session.

Two bottles

The two squeeze bottles allow you to direct the liquid to the area of the griddle where you need it. By squeezing them, you can add the liquid little by little whilst continuing to work with the ingredients.

Having two containers makes it easier to organise your preparation when using different liquids. The image shows this in use on vegetables, with the bottle close to the cooking area and the stream directed at the chosen spot.

Scraper

After cooking, the scraper helps to gather and remove any leftovers from the griddle. Its straight blade allows you to work across the smooth surface and direct the residue to where you’ll collect it.

In this way, cleaning becomes part of the cooking process itself: once you’ve finished serving, you remove the leftovers with the tool designed for the job and carry on with the care instructions provided by your griddle’s manufacturer.

Stainless steel utensils

Char-Griller highlights stainless steel as the material used in the kit. In the spatulas and scraper, the metal blades provide a sturdy working surface for everyday tasks on a griddle.

This is an important detail if you’re looking for utensils to use throughout the cooking process and for cleaning up afterwards. The bottles serve another purpose within the set; this description of stainless steel refers specifically to the metal tools.

Utensils to hand on the Flat Iron

If you’re cooking with the Char-Griller Flat Iron four-burner gas barbecue, the manufacturer states that you can attach the spatulas and scraper to the barbecue’s magnetic storage strip. This keeps them close to the work surface between tasks.

This feature is specific to that model of barbecue. The magnetic strip is part of the barbecue itself and is not included in the kit.

First use

  1. Check that you have both spatulas, the scraper and the two bottles.
  2. Wash and dry all parts before using them for the first time. Check that the bottle nozzles are clean.
  3. Refer to your griddle manual before using metal utensils on its cooking surface.

During cooking

  1. Use the spatulas to lift, move and turn food. When working with both hands, you can gather or hold a portion in place while moving it with the other spatula.
  2. Use the bottles to apply liquid precisely where needed. Keep them in your hand and avoid placing them on the hot cooking surface.
  3. On the four-burner Flat Iron, the spatulas and scraper can be placed on the griddle's magnetic strip. The strip is not included with the kit.

After cooking

  1. Remove the food and switch off the griddle burners.
  2. If you are using a Flat Iron, allow the cooking surface to cool slightly before removing residue. Char-Griller recommends doing this after around 5–10 minutes; protect your hands if the surface is still hot.

Cleaning

  1. Flat Iron surface: use the scraper to move food residue and oil towards the griddle's grease container.
  2. Stubborn residue: Char-Griller recommends applying a small amount of water to help loosen it using the residual heat, then continuing with the scraper. Follow the procedure in the manual for your specific model.
  3. Kit components: as a general hygiene measure, wash the spatulas, scraper and bottles separately using warm water and mild detergent. Rinse and dry all parts thoroughly, including the nozzles. There is no verified official guidance confirming that this kit is dishwasher safe.

Maintenance

  1. Periodically check the condition of the blades, handles and nozzles. If any part is damaged, stop using it until you have confirmed whether it can be replaced.
  2. For the Flat Iron, Char-Griller recommends applying a light coating of oil to the cooking surface after cleaning. This instruction applies to the griddle, not to the components of the kit.

Storage

  1. Store all parts clean and completely dry. Empty the bottles if you are not going to use them for a while.
  2. If you have the four-burner Flat Iron, you can use its magnetic strip to keep the spatulas and scraper close at hand when the area is safe to use.

Griddled potatoes with green beans, mushrooms and pepper

A side dish for 2–3 people that lets you use both spatulas to mix and serve the ingredients without losing the juices left on the griddle.

Potatoes, green beans, mushrooms and pepper gathered with two spatulas on a griddle

Ingredients

  • 400 g small potatoes.
  • 180 g green beans.
  • 180 g mushrooms.
  • ½ orange pepper.
  • 1–2 tablespoons olive oil.
  • Salt and pepper to taste.

Preparation

  1. Prepare the potatoes. Boil them in salted water until almost tender. Drain, dry and cut them into halves or quarters.
  2. Prepare the vegetables. Trim the ends from the green beans and briefly cook them so that they remain tender but firm. Cut the mushrooms into quarters and the pepper into strips.
  3. Brown the potatoes. Preheat the griddle according to its instructions. Add a little oil using one of the bottles from the kit and place the potatoes cut-side down on the surface. Move them with the spatulas once they are golden.
  4. Add the remaining ingredients. Cook the pepper and mushrooms alongside the potatoes. Then add the green beans and mix everything using both spatulas, spreading the ingredients out rather than piling them up.
  5. Serve. Season with salt and pepper to taste and use both spatulas to lift the mixture from the griddle and transfer it to a serving dish.
