The LED-Lit Handle – Kamado Joe replaces the kamado’s standard handle and provides lighting directly over the cooking area. It is specially designed for those who continue cooking after dark and want to keep an eye on their food without relying on an outdoor lamp or torch.
Its system combines dimmable lighting, battery power and a construction suitable for the outdoor cooking environment. It is compatible with Kamado Joe Classic Joe® and Big Joe® barbecues and is fitted using the existing handle fittings.
Illuminates the entire cooking area
The integrated LED lighting is directed towards the cooking surface to provide bright light exactly where it’s needed. When you open the kamado at night, it allows you to see the condition of the meat, the colour of the food and the position of each piece on the grill more clearly.
The advantage over a separate light source is that the lighting is built into the handle itself and remains directed towards the work area. This means you can handle the food hands-free whilst monitoring the cooking process.
Two brightness levels
The system features two brightness levels, allowing you to adjust the light intensity to suit the current conditions. You can use a brighter setting when you need a clear view of the entire grill, or dim it when ambient light already provides sufficient visibility.
The built-in control lets you manage the lighting directly from the handle and switch it off between uses, ensuring the LEDs aren’t left on when they’re no longer needed.
For Classic Joe and Big Joe
Kamado Joe confirms that the handle is compatible with barbecues from the Classic Joe® and Big Joe® ranges . This accessory therefore allows you to upgrade the original handle on the brand’s main ceramic models by adding lighting, without altering the kamado’s normal operation.
Important: the manufacturer expressly states that this handle must not be used in conjunction with the DōJoe® accessory .
Ready for outdoor cooking
The body is made from heat- and weather-resistant nylon, a construction designed to withstand the typical conditions found around an outdoor barbecue. This allows the lighting system to be integrated into a single piece that remains attached directly to the front of the kamado.
Weather resistance is particularly useful for an accessory permanently fitted to an outdoor barbecue, although it is still advisable to keep it clean and protected in accordance with the manufacturer’s maintenance instructions.
Up to 9 hours’ runtime and quick battery replacement
The lighting is powered by four AA batteries and offers up to 9 hours of continuous operation. As it does not rely on an electrical connection, the system allows the kamado to be used as normal without adding cables around the cooking area.
When it’s time to replace the batteries, the power compartment can be slid out to access them without having to remove the entire handle. This is a particularly practical solution for an accessory that remains fitted to the barbecue.
Installation using existing fittings
The LED handle is designed to replace the existing handle using its own mounting fittings. The rear brackets allow it to be fitted in the usual position of the handle, whilst maintaining the front access you use every time you open or close the lid.
Once installed, the lighting is built into the very same part you use to operate the lid, so you don’t need to place an additional lamp on top of the barbecue every time you cook in low light.
