The KAUAI Black by Nora Flames is an outdoor gas heater that combines a thermal output of 9 kW with a clean 360° “visible fire” aesthetic. Designed for terraces, patios and outdoor kitchens, it offers immediate heat, a stable flame protected by tempered glass on four sides and a cosy experience that extends the outdoor season without compromising on design.

🔩 Materials and construction

Its combustion chamber is protected by tempered glass on four sides, which improves safety and heat resistance while allowing you to enjoy the flame effect from any angle. The body integrates a sturdy structure with side posts and a firm top panel; the base houses double castors – two of them with brakes – for controlled movement even on delicate surfaces. Inside, volcanic stones provide thermal inertia and flame stability.

⚙️ Outstanding features

The electric push-button ignition simplifies start-up and the anti-tip safety feature automatically shuts off the gas in the event of a tilt or fall. Includes connection kit with hose and regulator and comes ready to run on butane or propane, plus the four wheels make it easy to move, instantly locking it in place with the integrated brakes when you find the perfect spot on your terrace.

🔥 Performance and efficiency

With 9 kW of power, the KAUAI delivers immediate and even heat, helped by the lava stones that diffuse the temperature and stabilise combustion. The indicative consumptions stand at 655 g/h with butane and 643 g/h with propane, values consistent with its power range for thermal comfort in well-ventilated outdoor spaces.

🖤 Design and aesthetics

The “flame beacon” design makes the cooker an elegant focal point, with a sober and contemporary black finish. The vertical fire column, protected by glass, adds premium ambience without glare, blending in with modern, Nordic or rustic styles. The slim proportions (height 1365 mm, base 420×420 mm) make it ideal for outdoor furniture, walkways and lounge areas.

🧩 Compatibilities and included accessories

As standard it incorporates 0.8 kg of volcanic stone, regulator with hose for connection to cylinder and wheels for mobility; it works with low-pressure LPG (butane/propane) and accepts standard 4.5-13 kg (butane) and 3.9-11 kg (propane) cylinders, respecting the country’s regulation pressures.

🍖 Benefits for barbecues and outdoor kitchens

The KAUAI does not cook, but extends your culinary zone: it stabilises the ambient temperature around barbecues, griddles or outdoor ovens, making tasks such as long resting, light smoking or evening grilling more comfortable; the visible fire creates warm atmospheres for table service and long after-dinner meals even when it cools down.

🛡️ Safety and ease of use

In addition to the anti-tip system, use should only be outdoors or in well ventilated areas and with a minimum distance of 1 m from combustible materials. It is recommended to check for leaks with soap solution and use suitable regulators (28 mbar for butane, 37 mbar for propane). Electric ignition and braked base simplify day-to-day use without sacrificing safety.

🌆 Applications beyond

In hospitality and contract spaces it works as a space heater and decorative piece; in gardens and residential terraces it acts as a warm light point for reading, cocktails or outdoor cinema, providing thermal comfort and fireplace aesthetics without building work or wood smoke.

Use and Maintenance (step by step)

This use and maintenance plan is designed to extend the life of your KAUAI, ensure safe operation, and optimise outdoor thermal performance. Before each use, check that the environment is suitable (open or well-ventilated space), that there are no obstacles nearby, and that all connection elements are in good condition. Follow these steps and perform regular checks to enjoy your heater with complete peace of mind. Initial installation
  1. Place the heater only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area and at least 1 metre away from combustible materials.
  2. Check that the surface is level and activate the brakes on two wheels.
  3. Connect an approved regulator and LPG hose (28 mbar butane / 37 mbar propane); check the gasket on the regulator.
  4. Perform a leak test with soapy water on all joints (without flames or sparks).
  5. Place the lava stones, leaving the pilot and burner area free.
Ignition and daily use
  1. Slowly open the cylinder valve.
  2. Press the electric ignition and adjust the flame with the control knob.
  3. Do not move the equipment while it is lit or hot.
  4. In strong winds, monitor stability and reduce exposure.
  5. When finished, close the cylinder valve and allow to cool.
Regular maintenance
  1. Check the hose at least once a month and every time you change the cylinder; replace it if you see any cracks or wear.
  2. Keep the burner, control compartment and air intakes clean.
  3. Clean tempered glass when cold with a soft cloth and non-abrasive product.
  4. Replace lava rocks if they become pulverised or saturated with soot.
  5. Schedule an annual inspection by a qualified technician.
Storage
  1. Indoors, only with the cylinder disconnected and removed.
  2. Store the cylinder outdoors or in a ventilated and protected area.
  3. Avoid covering the ventilation openings at the base and access areas to the controls.
