This is the world of Weber at Barbecue World

If you have already read our first posts—where we told you who we are and invited you to visit our shop in Estepona—you already know that for us, a barbecue is not just a piece of equipment: it is a way to bring people together, enjoy the outdoors and cook at your leisure.

Within this universe, Weber is one of those brands that comes up time and time again when someone is looking to “play it safe”. In this post, we want to tell you, in simple terms and without any weird technical jargon, where Weber comes from, what makes it special and which models we think are essential if you’re thinking of taking one home.

From a cut buoy to a revolution in barbecues

The history of Weber began in the 1950s in the United States with a man named George Stephen. He worked in a metalworking shop near Chicago and, tired of the uneven cooking of the open grills of the time, he decided to experiment:

he cut a nautical buoy in half, added legs and a lid… and thus the first Weber kettle barbecue was born.

From that homemade invention, in 1952 he launched what we now know as Weber-Stephen Products, a company that has been innovating in charcoal, gas, electric and, more recently, pellet barbecues for almost 70 years.

If you look at any current Weber catalogue, you will see that they remain very faithful to that original idea:

to make barbecues that are easy to use, durable and designed for good cooking, not just for decorating the garden.

What you should know before buying a Weber barbecue

If you are considering a Weber barbecue (whether charcoal, gas or electric), there are a few key points to bear in mind:

  • Quality and durability

Weber works with materials such as vitrified steel and cast iron, using processes designed to withstand many years of outdoor use if properly cared for.

  • Heat control and ease of use

From the vents on the classic kettle to the burners and heat distribution in the Spirit and Genesis series, the brand takes great care to ensure that the barbecue is easy to control, even if you are not an expert.

  • Wide range of sizes and fuels

There are compact barbecues for balconies, medium-sized models for families and authentic ‘kitchens on wheels’ for those who need a lot of cooking space. With charcoal, gas, electricity, griddle and even pellets.

  • Ecosystem of accessories and spare parts

One of Weber’s strengths is that practically everything has its own accessory: griddles, pizza stones, stands, covers, thermometers, trolleys, cleaning kits and much more, as well as specific spare parts for each range.

  • After-sales service and warranties

The brand offers comprehensive warranties and a very complete catalogue of spare parts, which is important if you want your barbecue to last for many years.

And of course, if you come and see us at Barbecue World (or contact us online), we can help you turn all this into something very concrete:

‘For your space, your cooking style and your budget… which Weber makes the most sense?’

A quick look at Weber barbecues

To keep things brief, here’s a quick summary of how the Weber world is organised today:

Charcoal

The most iconic family. This includes the Kettle (the classic round ones), the Master-Touch, the Performer (with built-in table), the Smokey Mountain (more designed for smoking) and the Summit Kamado, for those who want to play in the “big leagues”.

Gas

The most popular are the Spirit and Genesis series, which come in different sizes and with different features. These barbecues are designed for frequent cooking, with precise heat control and the option of adding accessories such as griddles or pizza stones.

Electric

The Lumin and Pulse lines stand out here, ideal for terraces, balconies or spaces where it is not so easy to use charcoal or gas. They allow high temperatures to be reached and many include ‘smart’ technology to control cooking.

Grill plates

Weber has also made a strong entry into the world of grill plates for those who want even more versatility.

Our top Weber models: charcoal, gas and electric

Let’s address a question we are often asked in-store and over the phone:

‘OK, but if you had to recommend ONE model per fuel type… which one would it be?’

Obviously, each case is different, but if we had to make a very personal ranking, it would look like this (and yes, all the ones we mention are available at Barbecue World, both online and in our Estepona shop):

1. Top Weber charcoal barbecue: Master-Touch GBS Ø 57 cm

If you agree that barbecuing is a weekend activity rather than an ‘occasional indulgence’, this is a very serious contender.

Weber accessories: when details make all the difference

One thing Weber has going for it is that it doesn’t stop at barbecues. There is a whole universe of accessories designed to make your life easier: griddles, pizza stones, vegetable baskets, covers, thermometers, cleaning kits, trolleys…

At Barbecue World, we work with many of these accessories, and although we could make a very long list, here are three that we always recommend in store when someone takes a Weber home.

3 Weber accessories we recommend time and time again

1. Kettle barbecue cover

  • Protects your barbecue from sun, rain and dust.
  • the life of the enamel and parts.
  • unpleasant surprises when you uncover it after a period of non-use.

It’s one of those accessories that, once you have it, you wonder why you hesitated.

2. Spirit Griddle

  • Made of vitrified cast iron, with excellent heat retention and distribution.
  • Ideal for vegetables, seafood, eggs, pancakes, smash burgers and a thousand other things.
  • Turn your barbecue into a kind of professional outdoor griddle.

Perfect for those who enjoy experimenting and don’t want to limit themselves to just chops and sausages.

3. Cleaning kit for Q and Pulse barbecues

Template Web Paris 20
  • It includes the specific products and tools needed to clean thoroughly without damaging materials.
  • It facilitates maintenance and helps the barbecue continue to perform at its best for years to come.
  • It is much more convenient to have everything in one kit than to improvise with different products.
